The story behind the bear

Two siblings. One meaningful idea.

Layla wears a cochlear implant and a hearing aid. Her brother Brady loves 3D printing. Together, they’re creating bears with familiar details to help kids feel seen—with their family helping bring each idea to life.

Layla’s bear: where it all began

Made Like Me started with a wish for inclusion: a cuddly friend Layla could see herself in. With a hearing aid and cochlear implant in the same styles and colors as her own, her bear shares a familiar part of her world—and a feeling of belonging.

Brady’s bear: a buddy who understands

Brady takes injections, and needles can feel scary for kids. His buddy carries a pretend, needle-free injection pen of its own—a familiar detail that helps him feel less alone and gives him that same sense of belonging.

Questions

How do I order a bear?

Email madelikemebears@gmail.com to order your bear, or choose your personalization details above and click “Contact us to order.” We’ll confirm your customization, total and local pickup timing by email before requesting payment.

Are these real medical devices?

No. The accessories are miniature representations for a bear. They are not functional medical devices. The pretend pen has no needle and does not hold medication.

What ages will the bears be for?

Made Like Me bears are handmade keepsake companions. Because each bear has small attached 3D printed accessories, they are not intended for children under 3, and they are happiest with gentle hugs rather than rough play. Email us any time with questions about whether a bear is right for your child.
